Mythos

An augmented reality game (ARG) is a type of interactive experience that integrates digital content with the physical world, typically through the use of devices such as smartphones, tablets, or augmented reality headsets. By blending real-world environments with computer-generated elements, ARGs allow players to interact with both physical and virtual objects in real time. These games often incorporate location-based technology, image recognition, and spatial mapping to create immersive experiences. Popular examples include Pokémon GO, which overlays virtual creatures onto real-world locations, and Ingress, which transforms physical spaces into gameplay environments. ARGs are utilized for entertainment, education, marketing, and training, offering a unique convergence of gaming, storytelling, and real-world interaction.

I’ve long been fascinated by the narrative potential of augmented reality games. In fact, 📝MythOS itself was originally conceived as a 📝Choose Your Own Adventure style consulting experience, blending choice-based storytelling with professional consulting. Initially validated as my 📝Giving Experiment, it evolved into the 📝Choose Your Own Growth project where 📝memos with choice points offer pathways to deeper insight and personal development. Similarly, but in a different dimension, my 📝Choose Your Own Desire project was conceptualized as a kind of dating game that allowed prospective partners to navigate multidimensional aspects of my identity, sidestepping the reductive nature of traditional dating profiles. In many ways, my design of MythOS mirrors the structure of ARGs: an invitation to interact with a layered reality where choice, narrative, and discovery converge.
