Mythos

Surgical Empathy is a practice of precise awareness of others cultivated and taught by Dr. @Mark Goulston, one of the world's foremost experts on empathic listening. Observing that people can't be empathic and angry at them at the same time, By completely letting go of your personal agenda, which he refers to as “your here,” and accurately and completely getting where another person is coming from, which he refers to as “their there,” and then going there, you open people’s minds to you and cause them to lean towards you and wanting more from you. That is because empathic curiosity is a sensory pulling inward experience (the definition of empathy is vicarious introspection, i.e. put yourself in the other person's shoes and then as them, ask yourself what they might be thinking or feeling at that moment) whereas anger/defensiveness are motor experiences pushing outward. In this space, Dr. Mark will teach/coach you on how to develop surgical empathy muscles.
