Mythos

Google Domains was a 🏷️#domain-registrar operated by Google that provided users with tools to purchase, transfer, and manage internet domain names. Launched publicly in 2015 after a beta phase, Google Domains integrated with other Google services such as Workspace and offered features like DNS management, privacy protection, and email forwarding. In 2023, Google announced the sale of Google Domains to 📝Squarespace, a website-building and hosting company. The acquisition included approximately ten million domains registered across millions of customers, marking Squarespace’s largest expansion into domain management. As of 2025, all Google Domains accounts have transitioned to Squarespace’s platform, and users are encouraged to manage future renewals or transfers through their new Squarespace dashboards. Some users have opted to migrate their domains to alternative providers like Cloudflare, citing pricing and performance preferences.

I had a number of domains registered through Google Domains, all of which were automatically moved to Squarespace after the acquisition. Over time, I’ve been transferring them to 📝Cloudflare for better integration and lower costs.
