An invisible technology are those which works in the background; technology which uses technology on behalf of a human user. They are the layer on top of existing technologies. Invisible technologies solve for hidden costs: transaction costs, coordination costs, security costs, switching costs, operations costs, delegation costs — and other Coasian factors. We use invisible technologies as much as... humanly possible. Consumer applications like @IFTTT and @Apple Shortcuts enable you to automate repetitive tasks of varying complexities. More robust solutions like @Zapier are able to be the glue between thousands of applications.
