Mythos

A social sect is a community of people united by common interests or beliefs.

Unlike a social network which is created with the intent to continue growing the connections of each member, a social sect is created with the intention of maintaining continuity of the common interests or beliefs held by the community. While the potency of a social network wanes over time, the potency of a social sect intensifies with ever-strengthening connections between its members.

The concept of a social sect was inspired by the work of 📝LeRon Shults, PhD PhD (Ph.D. Ph.D.) and the title of his book and biweekly gathering that he co-hosts under the same name, 📝Practicing Safe Sects.

We created the Partners in Presence Community as an experiment in social sect design. By using 📝Circle, we are able to design the energy of the space by tailoring the ranking algorithms, member access settings, etc. to fit the common interest of our community — 📝Partners in Presence.
