Mythos

Academic founders are entrepreneurs who come from careers in academia and are now playing a CEO role in their new venture. This archetype is hallmarked by their advanced degrees (PhDs, Masters, MBAs, etc.) and their 📝Intellectual Capital often inspires initial confidence in those they meet.

Academic founders can get lost in the dazzle they create in uneducated others and in chasing exact truths when 📝By and Large truths are what make the company thrive. Academic founders have a tendency to errantly believe that everything must be perfect before progress can be made. They often get hung up looking for permission from outside parties, a remnant of the academic approval system.

If you are working with this archetype, it is important to ask questions about what their peers think in regards to concepts you don't understand. Introduce them to new, trusted peers for further council.

If you are an academic founder, seek out co-creators (co-founders, advisors, etc.) who can support you with business insights. So too should you balance those insights by seeking out academic co-creators with success in business to support you with the theories behind your ideas.
