The Ladies Skirt Rule is a principle for 📝cogent writing which suggests the message, content, post, etc. be "short enough to be interesting, but long enough to cover the main topic." [1]
This concept was introduced to me as gospel by my high school English professor who offered it in response to my question about the length of our assigned paper on—ironically—The Scarlett Letter.
Being a teenage boy at the time, it wasn't until years later that I realized the inappropriate nature of a teacher to offering this as metaphor. Then again, it was certainly memorable.
