Mythos

'Thinking, Fast And Slow' is a #book by psychologist @Daniel Kahneman, first published in 2011. The book explores the dual-process theory of the human mind, distinguishing between two modes of thinking: "System 1", which is fast, intuitive, and emotional, and "System 2", which is slower, more deliberative, and logical. Kahneman illustrates how these systems shape our judgments and decisions, highlighting common @Cognitive Bias that affect both personal and professional choices. The book synthesizes decades of research, including Kahneman's collaboration with Amos Tversky, and has influenced fields such as behavioral economics, decision science, and psychology. It was the 2012 winner of the National Academies Communication Award for best creative work that helps the public understanding of topics in behavioral science, engineering and medicine. It remains widely cited for its insights into the mechanisms of human thought and decision-making. I first read this book in 2017, and it felt like someone had finally handed me a map for navigating all the strange twists and turns of human behavior that had previously seemed inexplicable. Kahneman’s framing of System 1 and System 2 gave language to patterns I’d noticed but couldn’t quite articulate, and it quickly became a foundational lens for my professional work. Over the years, I’ve found myself returning to its lessons again and again, whether decoding business decisions or understanding my own cognitive traps. Thinking, Fast and Slow remains one of the books that shaped the way I see—and question—the world.
