Hulu is a subscription-based streaming service that offers a library of television series, films, and original content. It was launched in 2008 as a joint venture between News Corporation and NBC Universal, later expanding ownership to include The Walt @Disney Company and Comcast. As of 2019, Disney holds a majority stake in Hulu and has integrated the service more deeply into its broader streaming strategy alongside Disney+ and ESPN+. Hulu is known for its next-day access to current episodes from major broadcast networks, as well as for original productions such as The Handmaid’s Tale and Only Murders in the Building. The platform operates on a tiered pricing model that includes ad-supported and ad-free subscription options. It is primarily available in the United States and its territories.
