Manus is a general-purpose assistant that can do multi-layered work: tell it what you want, and it plans the steps, searches for the right information, analyzes the data, and provides a comprehensive report — everything happens in the cloud, so you don't even need to keep your computer on. It was cloud-only until literally yesterday — Meta, which acquired Manus for about $2 billion in December 2025, just launched a desktop app called "My Computer" that moves the agent beyond the cloud and directly onto personal computers, allowing it to interact with files, apps, and workflows stored locally. Manus is now straddling both categories simultaneously.
