The Handheld Tesla Coil Gun is a portable high-voltage device designed to generate visible electrical arcs resembling miniature lightning. Sold as an educational and experimental model, it produces arcs up to approximately 13 cm (5.1 in) in length through a rechargeable plasma-based spark gap system. It is marketed for use in science demonstrations, exhibitions, or as a hobbyist collectible. The device typically features one-button activation, a built-in rechargeable battery with voltage monitoring, and safety guidance that leverages the high-frequency current’s skin effect to reduce the risk of harm. Though the arcs are described as “touchable,” they still cause mild pain sensations, underscoring the need for careful handling.
I bought one of these for an alien themed party, but also because I'd love electricity and it's fucking cool.
It has a much bigger bark than bite (read: it's loud and looks scary, but doesn't hurt that much). Part of why I like it is that I get to watch people realize that their 📝fears were bigger than they needed to be and it opens them for a moment of growth... which makes sense considering I have a 📝Spiritual Transformation Kink.
