MythOS is a system for networked thought and communication that enables users to modularly capture, link, and contextualize knowledge as living documents, known as 📝memos. Each memo can be interconnected through 📝Mentions, forming a mesh of references, and grouped via 📝Tags for thematic collections. The platform emphasizes fluid, context-rich storytelling, allowing individuals to “chunk” their experiences into a personal knowledge library that evolves over time. Features such as browser integration extend this functionality into daily workflows, supporting a practice called 📝Contextual Augmentation. The result is a flexible infrastructure for digital memory, supporting both personal and collaborative sensemaking across varied mediums. MythOS is rooted in the broader landscape of 📝Knowledge Management and is aligned with concepts like 📝Networked Thought and 📝Zettelkasten.
We began incubating MythOS at 📝One Studio in 2017 after being unexpectedly removed from 📝Notion—a result of our teaching, open sharing, and 📝Reddit Marketing efforts pushing their API to its limits. This disruption became the catalyst for creating a system of our own, one designed to support communication and education without relying on external constraints. In 2018, rather than compromise the unique nature of MythOS to secure funding, 📝John Zdanowski invested in 📝Spiritual Bro as “a character built on Mythos.” This unconventional approach enabled a truly co-creative process and safeguarded the system’s core vision. Ultimately, this journey made space for 📝One Inc. to emerge and deepened our conviction that the underlying architecture of MythOS must remain both resilient and expressive, capable of supporting narrative integrity for all who use it.
