Judy Estrin is an internet pioneer, @Silicon Valley leader, technology #entrepreneur, #author of Closing the Innovation Gap, and CEO of JLabs. Since 1981, Estrin has co-founded over ten technology companies and served as CTO of Cisco Systems. Estrin has served on the boards of directors of FedEx, @Disney, Sun Microsystems, Rockwell Corporation, KQED, and @Medium. While at Stanford in the mid-1970s, she worked with the research group headed by Vinton Cerf, now called one of the "fathers of the Internet", and ultimately co-created TCP/IP—the backbone of the modern internet. Estrin helped popularize the term “cloud computing” in a 2001 paper titled 'Clouds vs. Strings' and was dubbed '@Mother Of The Cloud' by Forbes publisher Rich Karlgaard. Judy and I were introduced by @David Carrico, her son, leading up to the launch of @PrimeMind; an online publication in which she was the lead investor. Our first call, scheduled for fifteen minutes, carried on for an hour as she recommended the book @Reclaiming Conversation and shared her thoughts on @Digital Empathy; introducing me to the concept that is now central to my @lexicon. Judy's body of work speaks for her brilliant mind and unrelenting labor. Unseen by many is the warmth of her heart and selfless contributions to society. She is one of the wisest people we know.
